From the Editor's Desk Like Our New Look?Welcome to the new Biodefense Journal. We have finally moved to the promised peer review publication and everyone is excited. Our focus will remain that of supporting all levels of the Biodefense community working to reduce or mitigate the national and international Biodefense threat. We will start slowly by publishing on a quarterly basis. Each issue will function as an independent forum for the industry’s military, medical, policy and first responder constituents. Our aim is to objectively present information such as new disease appearance, trends in disease pattern changes, avenues of pursuit in law enforcement, and enhancements to current pathogen or toxin detection. In addition, we will provide unbiased reviews of new studies and commissions and act as an exchange for innovative ideas and approaches to dilemmas facing our field. I invite you to submit your work of 2500 to 5000 words in length. Our world class peer review committee is small but growing. We already have some of the best with Dr. Dani Margot Zavasky, Instructor at NYU’s School of Medicine and the Medical Director for New York City Police Department’s Counter Terrorism Bureau; Dr. Joseph Dudley, Research Associate with the University of Alaska and well known conservation biologist; and GMU’s own Dr. Maksim Tsvetovat, Computational Social Sciences, whose emphasis is Social Network Analysis and Terrorist Networks. We have also expanded to include book reviews and commentaries. Let us hear from you. If you disagree with an author, send a letter to the editor. If you can expound on a position, present that as well. We are your publication and look forward to serving you.
