Our Mission
Mission The Institute of Biodefense Research is a 501 (c) 3 not-for profit organization that strives to strengthen microbial forensics effectiveness and take the field to new areas by creating opportunities for sound analytical process validation investment that furthers accurate scientific attribution of microbial evidence and combats emerging challenges. To do this the Institute establishes comprehensive methodologies to ensure development of standards, tools, programs, services, and educational resources that aid emergency management, law enforcement and public health communities. Vision The Institute for Biodefense Research and its partners advance the science of microbial forensics through repeatable validation and interpretation processes that lead to timely, accurate attribution and effective support of emergency management, law enforcement, and public health communities. The emergence of tools to enhance scientifically robust analysis, assay and interpretation that keep pace with increasingly powerful technology improves emergency management and public health communities' response and national security decisions.
