Scientific Investigations The Institute fosters scientific research that incorporates multi-disciplined at the local, regional national and international level. The methodologies and tools that result from this research have a high-degree of reliability and relevance that support the scientific attribution recommendations identified by the National Research Council of the National Academies in their report: Science Needs for Microbial Forensics: Developing Initial International Research Priorities. Combining science with technology, the Institute and its partners expand the knowledge base needed to understand the investigative, legal, intelligence, and policy questions surrounding natural and accidental events that impact emergency management, medical, and public health. It also accommodates, the attribution requirements needed for law enforcement and policy decision makers to come to reliable conclusions on purportedly intentional incidents. ﷯﷯
